The following items we need help identifying:

*Engine parts: The block is a ’37 Dodge Truck of some type, but the head appears to be later but we’re not sure.  It is the shorter 23½” block, a 201 cubic inch, we think.  Here are serial numbers stamped on the engine parts.

Block: “T43 *I4I378” (stamped on side top left side by cylinder 1)

“6-28-6”  (cast on driver’s side base by oil pan, a date code)

                “1484929 35” behind starter

Head:   23 1/2 “ long.  We don’t know what the identity of this head.

“P” on the top (probably Plymouth abbreviation)

“1311810-5” and “11-30”  and “NH” all stamped on head top

   Starter: “Autolite”, “Part 1136947”, “MCH-6104”, “GE195960”,  “6 -24”, “PS1291

                 3-C’

   Bellhousing:  “4 – 18” behind starter area

   Generator: “Autolite”, “GER-4801 7B”

   Distributor: “Part 13082061” , “IGS4207B-1 9D061597”

Carburetor: “Carter, Ball & Ball M8E7T2” (one barrel)

*Rear Fenders………………….1935 Plymouth or ?????????

*Spare Wheel…………………..1934-6  Plymouth/Desoto  artillery wheel?????

                                                  (10 design holes, 6.5X16 “Pat. Pend. A”)

*Spare Tire Cover? (Lots of welding here; parts are from???)

*Front Tube Axle and brakes... 1934-8  Dropped Tube Axle Plymouth????????

*Front Bumper?

*Rear Bumper? (The curved up endings looks like a 1941 Mercury or Ford?)

*Center Single Bumperette front & rear? (1940 Oldsmobile? Or maybe, 1939-41 Plymouth where it was called a “superguard” but I can’t identify it exactly.)

*Taillights? (Says: “MUN” on the base above the round reflector light) The base has been ground down.

*Fog Lights?

*Shifter & knob (Plymouth 1937?)

*Two metal strips above trunk to hold folding top when down?

*Step Plates on running boards? (They say, “Mr. Roadster” on backside)

*Exhaust system:  Fenton iron headers (“Dodge/Plymouth H201 Front, H200 Rear.”)

*Spare Tire:  (reads: Goodyear Marathon, 16 inch).

*Outside door handles?

*The three connected road side flares on driver’s side running board?

Items added later on in this car’s life for sure by subsequent owners:

*Steering wheel……..………….....1939 Desoto

*Rear View mirror……………….....1939 Studebaker?

*Wheels………………………….....1984 Tru-Spoke? (60 spokes)

*Clamshell license plate holder…..Identity unknown

*Headlights………………………....Reproduction

*Fenton intake w/ twin Carters  ….1940’s or 1950’s?

*Oil Filter………………………...….Filcolator

*Chopped Windshield……………..Custom made recently; suspect originally had no windshield at all or a taller uncut frame.

*Stewart Warner gauges………….1960’s or so we think

*Title: reads 1931 Plymouth CP from California which we believe to be incorrect as the suicide doors with internal hinges and curved forward lower edges, twin cowl vents (now filled in), and  “X” frame are all 1932 roadster features in my opinion.  Further, we don’t see signs of a rumble seat thereby making it a “Business Roadster” as opposed to a “Sport Roadster” technically.  So, we believe the original donor was a 1932 Plymouth PB Business Roadster.

*California  Blue Tag on frame reads: “I.D. Tag Replacement Ident. Number DMV89767CA,  Control Number 328521 State of California.”  An older tag in the door jamb (painted over) reads the same as above but Control Number is “319767”.  Any clues here to the car’s history anyone?

*Body Tub, Front Fenders & Frame:  As described above, based on our study, the frame and center tub are a modified 1932 Plymouth PB Business Roadster. We say this because of the curved bottom fronts of the doors with internal hinges, and that they are of the suicide type with no provisions for windows.  Also, the original 1932 Plymouth 2 cowl vents in front of the windshield are welded up, also a unique 1932 feature.  The frame has a large X shape which matches photos of a PB 1932 frame only.   The trunk is not a rumble seat (indicating a Business Roadster as opposed to a Sports Roadster model).

*Frame:  Has the X-frame which matches photos of a 1932 PB frame.  It appears modified w/ a later 1934-6(?)  mopar tube axle and the front X part of the frame cut away to allow for sunken foot wells (currently covered w/ boards).  I was told the brakes might be 34-6 but I can’t tell.  The front suspension is modified to accept the tube axle and parallel front leaf springs (new).  Wheelbase: 112” which is standard for a ’32 Plymouth PB frame and the car is 175” long with a center tire width of 55 or 56”  (We don’t know if the car is longer or wider than a stock ’32 plymouth roadster even though the body tub is widened 6 inches.)  The undercarriage is red primer. There are 2 X 4” wooden planks laid down on each side of the frame, maybe to support the widened body?

*Shocks:  It has old air shocks on the back for some reason.  Both front and rear shocks are relocated for what reason we do not know.  Was this car a tail dragger from the 1940-1950’s era or something else?  Maybe it had fender skirts?

*Radiator:  reads: Young Radiator Company, Racine Wis. U.S. Manufactured 4-51,  (likely April 1951).  Patented 2,486,XXX, patent applied for.  It also has a brass tag welded on which reads: 004889; A Radiator, 2015 E. Artesia, Long Beach, CA.  Also a repair tag from 5/17/89.

*Windshield Frame:  I don’t know if the original custom car had a chopped windshield, it may have been cut later or had no windshield at all, but the part number is Mopar and reads: “Doehler” with numbers: “452140RH CB194” and  “452141LH CB191” and “CB195” on the Pillar post.
